Hazel, 16, has cancer. Her latest treatment seems to have stopped the disease's progression, but she knows she's doomed.

Although she finds it quite boring, she joins a support group attended by other young patients.

It's there that she meets Augustus, a boy in remission who shares her sense of humor and her love of literature. The attraction between the two teenagers is immediate.

And despite Hazel's reluctance, as she's afraid to get involved in a relationship whose time is limited, their love story begins... quickly drawing them into a slightly crazy, ambitious, funny, and above all, life-affirming project.
