In school, there are good, model students... and then there's Gustave.
From his radiator at the back of the classroom, this eternal dreamer curiously watches the birds in the courtyard or the hands of the clock, which take mischievous pleasure in slowing down each day. He would like to bring home almost perfect grades to his mother, but it's mostly calls from the principal that he collects during class. Yet, Gustave works relentlessly every evening. He spends more time on his homework than most of his classmates, but unlike Joséphine, his snobby, straight-A older sister, it doesn't seem to make a difference. Worse, some teachers are starting to take a dislike to him and think he's lazy.
Sometimes, it takes very little for a life to turn for the better... A universal novel, vibrant with crisp humor and constant emotion.
