La Femme Bonsai

A woman in her forties, a high school teacher in the Naples area, reflects on her life. She recounts her childhood and gradually confides in the reader, exposing herself without reservation. Entirely constrained by the traditional environment in which she was born, she grew up like a bonsai tree, deformed by the ligatures, wire, and regular pruning meant to control its growth. Imprisoned in her own body, she refuses any embrace, except that of shame.
But when she accidentally meets Andrea, a man who, in many ways, is radically different from her and her history, her life bifurcates and deviates from the path initially drawn for her. From then on, she will ceaselessly seek to understand her own desire, in order to perhaps finally succeed in listening to it.
