Minor difficulties of existence

The life of Carmen, a waitress in a bar, and Terry, who takes care of their son and consults the I Ching daily. The young couple are increasingly questioning their existence and the world around them.

“I’ve decided to love you to death.” This is what Carmen reads on the note Terry wrote her (but is it possible to decide to love someone?). Since their return from Europe and the birth of their son, Étienne, Carmen works as a waitress at Dooly's, while Terry takes care of the little one. He has read all the books he could find on the I Ching, even the thickest ones (is that what an intellectual is?), and he consults the oracle every day (what is the best system of divination: the sixteen colored beads? the fifty yarrow stalks?)
