On the bridge, I passed behind a figure leaning over the parapet, who seemed to be looking at the river. On closer inspection, I distinguished a thin young woman, dressed in black. Between her dark hair and the collar of her coat, only a fresh, wet nape of her neck was visible, to which I was sensitive. But I continued on my way, after a moment of hesitation... I had already walked about fifty metres when I heard the sound, which, despite the distance, seemed formidable to me in the nocturnal silence, of a body falling onto the water. I stopped dead, but without turning around. Almost immediately, I heard a cry, repeated several times, which also descended the river, then abruptly died out.
