Canadian Wildflowers: Through the Seasons

Our aim is to photograph with all our skill the flowers that still remain in some places. Our desire is to show each subject to its best advantage in all its loveliness. The discovery of a rare or unusual flower, a new species we have not seen before, or an expanse of flowers in fields, woods or swamps exhilarates and spurs us on. We forget the swarming black flies and mosquitoes, the difficult progress into a bog or the tiring climb up a mountain trail weighted down with equipment. Into our pictures go all our love for these flowers, our joy at their color and structure, and all the skill we have acquired in years of practice. We take many pictures and spend many hours doing it. If even one or two photographs succeed in capturing the beauty we have seen, then we are rewarded for all our effort. If not, our resolve is to return next year and try again! In this volume, we present 124 pictures of wildflowers or their seeds taken by 17 photograph¬ers, amateur and professional. We hope they will appeal to you. When you go out with the same purpose, take along patience and perseverance as part of your equipment, and take pictures for the joy of it.
