This book reflects a few of the Black women, the Unsung Black Heroine in Nova Scotia past and present. These women tell about their untiring works and their dedication, commitment, love of families and communities.

Their Biographies tell you a small portion of what they contributed to the communities in which they lived and beyond. Many of these women were struggling long before the word feminist was even thought of. Black women have always been involved; we had to in order to survive.

Black Women in Nova Scotia have been working and volunteering their time since the early 1800's. These stories have not been told, they are not in our history books. Black women have been, and always will be, the backbones of their families along with the Black Men. Black Women have flourished and demanded their rightful place in our Societies but not without a struggle. We have fought and continue to fight the isms, Racism, Sexism and many others. We have the right to be counted in all aspects of society, whether it is through employment, Boards and Commissions, Politics and many other areas.

This is a book about strong Black Women who have made a difference in Nova Scotia and abroad and we give thanks to our Creator who has been our guide. We give God thanks for these women and their works. This is the first edition of Black Women Who Made A Difference in Nova Scotia and the highlights and on going contributions of Black Women of all ages and diversities within us.
